Rachel Nix

Drifter

The pilot light flickers,

fighting to stay on

to no avail;

the cold blows in,

more welcome

than the footsteps

that follow.

Rachel Nix is a native of Northwest Alabama, where pine trees outnumber people rather nicely. She is the Poetry Editor at cahoodaloodaling; her work has recently appeared or is forthcoming in Hobo Camp Review, Words Dance, and Antiphon. She can be followed at @rachelnix_poet on Twitter.
